A report in Kansas City says some high-ranking officers in the Independence police department discredited a sergeant by giving the police chief misleading information.
The Kansas City Star says it has gotten a copy of a 49-page arbitrator’s resort that says some high-level officials retaliated against Sergeant John Bullard when he expressed concerns about understaffing and the way the department was being run. Bullard had filed a grievance saying he was wrongly suspended for five days without pay. The city is considering an appeal of the arbitrator’s findings.
