Feds clear KC Port Authority, lawyer

January 22, 2011 By admin

Federal prosecutors have cleared the Port Authority of Kansas City and its attorney of federal violations. Authorities had opened a preliminary investigation in December into work at the old Richards-Gebaur airbase after the Kansas City Star reported at private earth-moving contracts totaling nearly $10 million had been awarded to a company owned by the attorney.

In a statement, the federal prosecuting attorney in Kansas City said that neither the Port Authority nor the attorney were targets of a federal investigation.
