Wagner trails badly after 2nd ballot

Missouri’s candidate for Republican National Chairman is running well behind in the voting for the position. Ann Wagner finished fifth with 23 votes in the first round of voting. She improved to fourth with 27 votes in the second round of balloting but still trails leader Reince Priebus, the Wisconsin party chairman. who had 52 of the 85 votes he needs to be elected on the second ballot. Incumbent chairman Michael Steele lost about one-third of his support from the first to the second ballot, dropping from 44 votes to 30.
