Joplin man gets 10 years for hitting a woman

January 14, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

A Joplin judge will decide later whether to accept a plea bargain from a man charged with slugging a women so hard he left her blind in one eye and knocked her out of her shoes.

The prosecutor has agreed to a ten-year sentence for Robert Reed Junior instead of a maximum of 15 years.

A mistrial was declared in Reed’s trial in November with the jury deadlocked 11-1 in favor of conviction. Reed did not show up for his retrial earlier this month. He was arrested later and agreed to the plea deal.
