The Cleveland Browns have decided on Pat Shurmur as their new head coach. Team president Mike Holmgren will introduce Shurmur on Friday. This will be Shurmur’s first head coaching job as he replaces Eric Mangini.

The Browns only interviewed three candidates and Shurmur appeared to have the inside track right away. He spent eight years working with Browns general manager Tom Heckert. Shurmur has never worked with Holmgren, but he learned the West Coast offense under Andy Reid, one of Holmgren’s closest friends.

As far as the Rams, head coach Steve Spagnuolo could go to former Minnesota’s head coach Brad Childress who was the offensive coordinator for Philadelphia while Spagnuolo ran the Eagles’ defense. Both became good friends during their time there.
