Branson doctor reprimanded for two botched surgeries

January 13, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

The state board of registration for the healing arts has reprimaded Branson doctor Mary Wollmering for her treatment of two people. The reprimand does not affect her license but it is placed in her file.

The board says she placed some stents in the abdomen of a man suffering from an abdominal aortic aneurysm but did not do a final exam to check the location of the stents. A lawyer who represented the man in a suit says one of the stents blocked arteries serving the kidneys, causing them to fail.

The board also cited Wollmering for replacing the wrong valve in a heart operation. She later did the correct replacement.
