Anaheim’s Bobby Ryan had a hat trick and four points as the Ducks scored three first period goals to hand the Blues their fifth loss in a row, 7-4, Wednesday night in California.

Ryan scored twice in the first, including a power play goal as the Ducks scored three times with the man advantage. Ty Conklin got the start in goal and gave up all seven goals on just 24 shots.

David Backes, the Blues lone All-Star representative, scored his 13th and 14th goals in the second period which got the Blues back into the game down 3-2 at the second intermission.

However, Ryan was back for the Ducks, scoring his 21st just 30 seconds into the third as Anaheim rattled off four straight goals in the final period. The Blues added two late goals in the final 3:40 of the game.

The win moved the Ducks from eighth place to fifth in the Western Conference playoff race with 52 points. St. Louis remained in 12th place with 46 points, four behind eighth-place Colorado, as the Blues matched their longest losing streak of the season.
