Alderman censured because of threats to shoot other aldermen

January 11, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

Aldlermen in Town and Country have censured one of their own because an anonymous e-mail sent from his computer suggested his fellow aldermen should be shot.

Alderman David Karney admits the message came from his computer, he didn’t send it. He says somebody attending a gathering at his home sent it to protest the city’s plan to hire sharpshooters to kill deer that have become a problem with the city.

The message to other aldermen read, “The deer are what makes [sic] Town and Country such a nice place to live. It’s aldermen like you who should be shot.”

Kareny knows who sent the message but won’t reveal the name.
