Former Royals’ catcher Miguel Olivo is headed back to the Northwest and former Cardinals’ shortstop Brendan Ryan is following him. Both signed deals with the Seattle Mariners on Monday.

Olivo signed a two year, $7 million with a club option for two years. Olivo hit a career best .269 with Colorado last year, but spent 2008 and 2009 as the Royals’ backstop where he hit a career high 23 homers in 2009.

Ryan gets a deal that avoids arbitration and will receive $1 million this year and $1.75 million in 2012. Ryan was traded to Seattle after the Cardinals picked up Ryan Theriot from the Dodgers.
