Kansas City has had a “Secret Santa” for decades, but now the the tradition appears to have taken root in St. Louis. For the third year in a row, a Secret sSnta has been passing out $100 bills… or more… to random people who appear to have need; or more targeted recipients based on recommendations from community leaders.

This santa, a woman, is one of nearly a dozen that have sprung up across the country since Larry Stewart started the tradition in Kansas City three decades ago. Stewart remained anonymous until shortly before his death in 2007. A new santa has taken over for him in Kansas City as well.
