BetOnSports leader strikes deal with federal government

December 17, 2010 By [email protected]

One of the leaders of the BetOnSports internet gambling operation appears to have struck a deal with the federal government that will not only keep him from going to prison, but will allow him to serve out his probation in Costa Rica.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Norman Steinberg flew back to St. Louis to plead guilty to conspiracy. In return for his plea he will drop a secret civil lawsuit against the federal government. The suit was filed in Pennsylvania and was sealed.

Prosecutors agreed to drop several racketeering-related charges against Steinberg in return for his withdrawal of the lawsuit.
