“Santa Claus” drops $20,000 checks in Salvation Army kettle

December 15, 2010 By [email protected]

Somebody has wrapped five $20,000 checks and dropped them into a Salvation Army kettle in Joplin. The cashier’s checks list “Santa Claus” as the remitter.

The Salvation Army doesn’t know if the same person donated the money this year that has done the same kind of thing in four previous Christmas seasons. But a spokesman says the donations, including the ones this year, have totaled about $350,000.
