Missouri’s newest power plant has been turned on: Kansas City Power and Light’s Iatan II coal-fired plant near Weston. The plant is described as one of the cleanest coal-burning plants in America. The company president does not expect any more new plants for a while, because he expects electricity demand to flatten out for several years, during which time new technologies will become available allowing for even cleaner coal-fired plants.
