China concerns could have led to governor canceling trip

December 7, 2010 By [email protected]

Governor Nixon and his information office have refused to discuss the reasons he cancelled his week-long business trip to Taiwan and South Korea. But, the chairman of the group trying to make Lambert-St. Louis airport a major trade hub with China says it was cancelled out of fear the Chinese deal would be jeopardized.

The chairman of the Midwest China Hub Commission has told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the commission and the Chinese consulate have discouraged the trip because it would anger the Chinese government at a delicate time in the negotiations.
