Redhawks prepare for their D-I FCS football playoff game (AUDIO)

December 3, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Southeast Missouri will head to fifth-seeded Eastern Washington in the second round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship on Saturday, Dec. 4. Southeast will square off against the Eagles on the unique synthetic red turf at Roos Field in Cheney, Wash. Kickoff is set for 3:05 p.m., CT.

“It’s a great situation for us,” said Southeast head coach Tony Samuel. “It’s a great opportunity for us to take our program to another level. We just have to take care of business.”

The Redhawks make their first-ever NCAA Playoff appearance in 2010. Southeast finished at 9-2 overall (the nine wins tying a school record) and 7-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The OVC Championship is Southeast’s first since it joined the OVC and Division I ranks in 1991. The playoff berth marks the Redhawks first for the program at any level in their 104-year football history.
