Meramec coach reaches 700 wins

November 30, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Randy Albrecht, Meramec basketball coach

Congratulations to Randy Albrecht. He’s the head men’s basketball coach at Meramec Community College in St. Louis. He won his 700th game as a coach after this team beat the Fontbonne College junior varsity squad 93-53 on Monday night.

The 66 year old Albrecht has been there since 1977 and all but 32 of those wins have come at Meramec. Before that, he was the head coach for three season at Saint Louis University where he was a player. Prior to becoming a head coach, Albrecht was an assistant at SLU for eight years.

He went 32-47 in three seasons at SLU during a time when the school wasn’t focused on the direction of their men’s basketball program.
