Selected from Division II football’s super regional 4 are senior quarterback Blake Bolles of Northwest Missouri State University, senior quarterback Eric Czerniewski of the University of Central Missouri, senior quarterback Steve Gachette of Southwest Baptist University. They are three of 24 named as finalists for Division II’s equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.

Central Missouri quarterback Eric Czerniewski was selected as the MIAA Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league in passing with 4,150 yards (377.3 ypg) and 34 touchdowns. The senior from Montgomery City, Mo., also led the conference in total offense with 4,131 yards (375.5 ypg). He set the MIAA records for career passing yards (11,790), career total offense (11,906) and single-season passing yards (4,150). Czerniewski was also an All-MIAA First Team selection.

A native of Lincoln, Neb., Bolles was a first-team All-American last year when he led the Bearcats to a 14-1 record and the program’s third national championship. He’s 24-2 as a starter at Northwest and has thrown a touchdown pass in all 26 collegiate starts. Bolles is part of a senior class that never lost a conference game and won four MIAA titles.

Bolles has thrown for 7,921 yards and 72 touchdowns in his career, both of which are Northwest records. This season, he’s completed 218-of-345 passes for 3,099 yards and 23 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He’s also ran for 198 yards and three scores. He ranks 16th nationally in pass efficiency and 20th in passing yards per game.

Gachette passed for over 3,200 yards at Southwest Baptist in Bolivar connecting for 24 touchdowns. The Lehigh Acres, FL. native has broken several Bearcat records. Gachett holds the SBU record for most touchdown passes (6), passing yards (459), passing attempts (68) and passing completions (45) in a game. He was also a 2009 Harlon Hill finalist.
