Attorney General Chris Koster has filed last-minute paperwork to keep a man in prison whose conviction for murdering his mother has been thrown out. Koster is appealing the ruling that would otherwise free Dale Helmig. Koster questions whether the DeKalb County judge who ruled Helmig’s conviction was based on a miscarriage of Justice had the authority to issue the ruling.
