Wings score four in the third, Halak scores on himself in Blues loss

November 18, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Blues goalie Jaroslav Halak was solid through and half periods at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena, but the Wings four goals in a span of 3:14 midway through the third in a 7-3 loss for St. Louis. The third period meltdown handed the Blues their fifth game in a row without a win (0-4-1). The Blues are now 9-5-3 overall.

Detroit’s Danny Cleary, Henrik Zetterberg, Brad Stuart and Tomas Holmstrom each scored in the third to turn what was a tie game into a blowout. Halak rebounded after an embarrassing goal in the first period. After stopping a shot from Drew Miller, the puck bounced off of Halak and he swatted at that puck with his stick, but the puck caught the blade and flew directly behind Halak to give the Wings a 1-0 lead midway through the first.  Watch the goal

Brad Boyes, Brad Winchester, Andy McDonald scored for the Blues as McDonald added two assists and Boyes added one for St. Louis’ multi-point games.
