Missouri junior guard Kim English was named to the Naismith Award preseason watch list on Tuesday.  The list includes 50 players from 44 universities around NCAA Division I basketball, including the Tiger junior who led his team in scoring last season.

A native of Baltimore, English averaged 14.0 points per game as a sophomore en route to all-Big 12 Third Team accolades. The 6-foot-6 guard was one of the country’s most improved players a year ago, seeing his scoring average increase from 6.5 points as a freshman to that team-best total of 14.0 tallies. He also tied for the team lead in three point field goals (68) and topped the 20-point plateau in scoring 10 times, including 20 points in the NCAA win against Clemson and 24 vs. Illinois in St. Louis. Those 24 tallies vs. the Fighting Illini helped English win Big 12 Player of the Week honors.

English, also a 2010-11 Wooden Award preseason watch list member, and the Tigers open the 2010-11 campaign on Wednesday against Western Illinois. Game time at Mizzou Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.
