The first round of the boys high school soccer state playoff games were played on Tuesday night in all three of Missouri’s classifications. I have included links of the brackets as well as all of the scores from first round action.
Some of the highlights from sectionals:
Class 3: Rockhurst shutout Lee’s Summit North 2-0, scoring goals in the 23 minutes of play. The Hawklets will face Park Hill in the quarterfinals after a 4-2 win over Kearney. Timberland, making their first post-season appearance shut out Francis Howell North 2-0 and Vianney got goals from four different players in a 4-0 win over Hazelwood West.
Class 2: Duchesne beat Moberly 2-1 in OT after senior Sean Hogan scored the tying goal with 15 minutes to play and then netted the game winner less than a minute into OT. Cape Girardeu Notre Dame advanced past Hillsboro 3-1. Center beat Northeast on penalty kicks 3-2 after the game ended tied at 4-4.
Class 1: Pembroke Hill improved to 21-3-1 after a 3-0 win over St. Piux X. With expanded playoffs, Fatima finally broke out of the first round by beating Missouri Military Academy 2-1 in overtime.
