Playing in front of a school record crowd of 11,126 at Houck Stadium in Cape Girardeau, the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks improved to (8-1, 7-0) after a Homecoming win 24-17 over UT Martin.

The Redhawks were ranked 11th in FCS schools and were led by quarterback Matt Scheible who threw for 108 yards and rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown. Southeast is on an eight-game winning streak for the first time since 1955. The Redhawks also moved to 4-0 at Houck Stadium this season.

The Redhawks defense which has been solid all season, shutout UT Martin in the first half and held off a 17-point run by the Skyhawks in the game’s final 30 minutes. UT tried to make a big comeback after Henry Harris scored on an 8-yard run to give Southeast a 17-7 lead with 11:56 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Redhawks close out their three-game homestand against Southwest Baptist on Nov. 6. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., CT, at Houck Stadium.
