Hannibal seeks AMTRAK stop

October 20, 2010 By [email protected]

The city of Hannibal wants to get AMTRAK passenger rail service. City leaders plan to petition the state transportation department and the legislature to set aside funds to build the necessary tracks to divert trains that go from Chicago and Kansas City by way of LaPlata, near Kirksville.

A spokesman for the Hannibal convention and visitors bureau has told the Hannibal Courier Post AMTRAK service would boost tourism as well as business and education in the area.
