Federal court throws out suit against patrol, sheriff

October 20, 2010 By [email protected]

The federal appeals court in St. Louis has thrown out a Lawrence County man’s claim that a highway patrolman and the county sheriff are responsible for injuries he suffered when a drunk driver ran over him, twice.

The court says claims by Michael Dodd are without merit, noting that Dodd was drunk and lying in a road after wrecking his pick-up when another drunk driver ignored officers’ attempts to avoid the scene and ran over Dodd, then backed up over him again before the officers could get him to stop.
