H-and-R Block is buying an Iowa software developer whose program was used by five million tax filers last year.
Block is paying more than $287 million to buy the company that has created Tax-ACT. The company’s management team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa will develop a new digital tax business that will let people use Tax-ACT and Block’s existing At Home products.
