The Missouri Tiger women’s basketball program, that went 12-18 a year ago and just 2-14 in conference play in 2009-2010, was picked for 11th in the Big 12 preseason coaches poll. New head coach Robin Pingeton knows she has a tough order to fill with a team that has struggled in recent years, and not only hopes to bring a new and exciting style of play, but hopes the returning veterans can step up their play.

Mizzou must fill the void of almost 22 points a game that will be missing with the loss of seniors Jessra Johnson (12.6 ppg) and Amanda Hanneman (9.2 ppg). Returning for Robin are Shakara Jones (9 ppg), Rae Shara Brown (9.7 ppg, and the team’s top returning three point shooter), and 6’3 forward Christine Flores (9.3 ppg).

Baylor was picked to win the Big 12 with 11 first place votes. Coaches can’t vote for their own team and Baylor’s vote went to Texas A & M who is picked second.  The Lady Tigers begin exhibition play on November 2nd against Missouri Western at Mizzou Arena.
