A jury has awarded nearly two million dollars to 11 homeowners in Ladue whose property suffered damage from flooding two years ago.

The jury found that a temporary bridge built by Gateway Construction caused the flooding, not the torrential rainstorm that hit the St. Louis area September 14th, 2008. Gateway used the bridge to move construction vehicles for the Highway 40 rebuilding project. It had claimed that the temporary crossing had nothing to do with the damage.

The jury awarded $318,000 in actual damages and $150,000 in punitive damages to each of the 11 homeowners who filed the lawsuit.
