Former Kansas City Congresswoman Karen McCarthy has died five years after leaving the United States House. She was later diagnosed as a victim of Alzheimer’s disease. She was 63. McCarthy, a Democrat, served in the Missouri House for 18 years before going to Washington, where she served for ten years.
