Of course, now that the games do not count, the St. Louis Cardinals decide it is time to go on a winning streak.  Last night, the Redbirds would get their third win in a row as they shut out the Colorado Rockies, 3-0.

Cardinals starter Jake Westbrook was the star of last night’s game.  He would give up just four hits over his seven innings of work.  He would also strike out a season high nine hitters.

But it was not just a night for Westbrook to shine on the mound.  At the plate, he would drive in his first run of the season in the second inning with an RBI single.

The Cardinal offense was very quiet last night.  Allen Craig would drive in a run in the first and Matt Pagnozzi would squeeze home Craig in the sixth.  The Cardinals would have just six hits on the night.

Ryan Franklin would come into the game in the ninth inning to pick up the save.  He now has 27 on the season.

The Cardinals will try to make it three in a row this afternoon as it is Stand For Stan Day at Busch.  Every fan attending the game will get a Flat Stan, and the crowd will stand and recognize the achievements of Stan Musial during the sixth inning.  Musial is expected to be at Busch Stadium today.

Kyle Lohse will get the start against the Rockies’ Ubaldo Jiminez.

First pitch is 12:10.
