A former bank branch manager in Columbia has been charged by federal prosecutors with stealing $30,000 from a soccer team and its local soccer eague.

Prosecutors accuse 41-year-old Michael Robert Rettke of abusing his position at Boone County National Bank to embezzle from the team and league. A federal grand jury indictment alleges that between 2008 and 2010, Rettke illegally transferred money from the accounts of the Central Missouri Soccer League and a local team, the Bears, into his own bank account. He used the money to pay his mortgage and other personal matters, according to the indictment.
