Bannister’s return not so good

September 8, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Minnesota Twins DH Jim Thome hit another home run and Delmon Young drove in four runs as the Twins beat up on the Royals 10-3 on Tuesday night. Brian Bannister in his return from the DL got rocked with seven earned runs allowed in 2.2 innings as the Twins scored six times in the third.

It was really over before it started as the Royals had no chance in this game, especially with Francisco Liriano on the mound for the Twins who improved to 13-7 overall and 7-0 in the second half in 10 starts as he breezed through seven innings allowing two runs on two hits.

One of those hits was a solo home run from Josh Fields in the fourth inning. Fields is just getting back on the field after being out with hip surgery. Fields’ first came with two out and nobody on making the score 7-1.
