A win is a win. After going 0-7 in their previous preseason games for Todd Haley, the Chiefs rewarded their coach with a win on Thursday night as the reserves held on for a 17-13 win over the Green Bay Packers.

While the Packers rested Aaron Rodgers, their starting quarterback, the Chiefs gave more work to Matt Cassel, who looks like he needs it. Once again, he got off to a slow start throwing an interception, but did throw a touchdown as well. Cassel finished 4 for 9 for 58 yards.

Brodie Croyle, who needs to get back up to speed, directed a scoring drive as well and finished the night 11 of 16 for 119 yards. The Chiefs let a game get away from them on Friday night when Philadelphia rallied for a last second win, but the Chiefs held on 3rd and 2 and 4th and 2 from their own 29 on two incomplete from backup QB Graham Harrell.
