The National Weather Service is looking at numbers that show we’re having one of the hottest summers in its records.
The Weather Service says the average daily temperature in St. Louis this summer has been 81.7 degrees. That’s the fourth-hottest summer on record. And the records go back 140 years. The summer of 1901 averaged almost 83. The summers of 1936 and 1934 averaged more than 82.
Four of the top ten hottest summers in St. Louis have happened since 1980.
