Missouri senior tailback Derrick Washington was suspended from the team indefinitely and many sources are saying it is going back to an off-field incident earlier this summer after a woman claims that Washington sexually assaulted her.  MU head coach Gary Pinkel would not have much to say regarding the suspension.

Gary Pinkel on Derrick Washington’s suspension

The alleged assault took place in the early morning hours of June 19th at the Campus View apartments in Columbia. Three days later, an order of protection was issued to Washington, meaning he could have no contact with the woman.

According to the Columbia Missourian, a court day of July 7th was pushed back to July 21st at which time neither the woman nor Washington appeared, so the case was dismissed.

However, head coach Gary Pinkel announced the suspension after yesterday’s practice, saying only there was no timetable and that he would not comment any further at this time.
