Boone County assistant prosecutor Andrea Hayes has not decided whether or not to charge Missouri senior running back Derrick Washington with a crime. University of Missouri Police Chief Jack Watring told the Columbia Daily Tribune his department handled the complaint and investigation before turning over the case to prosecutors involving Washington and a former female University student, who, according to court documents was Washington’s tutor.

According to an interview statement obtained by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Washington stopped by an apartment of a female friend at the Campus View Apartments in Columbia around 2:30 a.m. on June 19th and was banging on doors and windows until he was let into the apartment. After a verbal argument, he attempted to sexually assault her roommate.

A Post-Dispatch source said that there had been discussion this week about a plea agreement that would reduce a potential charge to a misdemeanor.
