“Virtual” teachers sue state

August 25, 2010 By admin

Fourteen teachers who taught Missouri schoolchildren through the state’s virtual schools program have sued the state, claiming Missouri broke its contract with them.

The 14 lost their jobs during the second semester of the Internet-based course program when Governor Nixon announced more than $200 million in budget cuts due to declining state revenue. The lawsuit claims the teachers were laid off despite contracts which guaranteed longer employment.
