State Rep. sues over primary loss

August 24, 2010 By admin

A state representative who lost her primary race has filed a lawsuit questioning the actions of the St. Louis Democratic Central Committee.

Representative Hope Whitehead narrowly lost to Karla May in the Democratic primary for her northwest St. Louis district. The margin of her loss was just outside the state requirement necessary to get an automatic re-count. So, instead, Whitehead has filed suit in St. Louis Circuit Court. She claims the committee gave credentials to May and others in an election ward, allowing her challenger to place inside players at multiple polling stations.
