A St. Louis man freed from prison has been arrested for possession of a firearm.

Phillip Shaw was sentenced to life in prison without parole at the age of 14 for killing a man during a robbery at a dice game in 1995. An appeals court order Shaw released after finding that a prosecutor in his case removed a juror based on gender. Shaw, now 29, cannot possess a firearm, because he’s a felon. Police arrested him after discovering an assault pistol in his backpack.
