It appears a beating death in Liberty might have occurred in a dispute over a $45 debt.
Clay County authorities have charged three men with assault in the death of 26-year-old Aaron Mayberry. Police found Mayberry unconscious in a duplex in Liberty. He died later at a local hospital. Authorities now believe Mayberry went to the duplex to collect a $45 debt and the three men beat him, bound his wrists and ankles with extension chords and left him covered in blood.
