Three games, less than 24 hours and 31 innings played. That’s what this weekend series amounted to against the White Sox for the Royals. When the dust settled on the third extra inning game of the series, the Royals were on top 3-2.

Jason Kendall drove in the winning run from third with two outs when he lined a shot into the left-center gap. Sean O’Sullivan picked up his first win with the Royals pitching the tenth inning as he worked what Ned Yost called a side session.

Zack Greinke started the game and threw the first eight innings allwoing two runs on hits while striking out nine in a 120 pitch effort. Sox starter John Danks and closer Bobby Jenks pitched a combined nine innings and kept the Royals to two runs on six hits while striking out nine.

Scott Linebrink took the loss for the Sox. These two teams combined for 31 innings in a 24 hour span after both of Saturday’s games went extra innings.
