The Missouri Tigers started the season against 16th ranked Maryland with a 3-2 loss. Missouri took the lead on a goal by freshman Dominique Richardson. The Terps responded with three goals of their own before senior Alysha Bonnick brought the game within striking distance for the Tigers with a goal in the 77th minute.

MU got on the board first in sixth minute when Richardson scored from 25 yards out. The game-winning goal came in the 70th minute when Maryland’s Ashley Grove slipped it past Tiger goalkeeper, Jessica Gwin, and softly tapped it in to make the score 3-1. Senior captain Alysha Bonnick scored unassisted with 13 minutes left to play but the Terps held off a late Missouri attack.
