Cassel plays better in Chiefs loss

August 22, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Despite losing starting quarterback Josh Freeman, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers found a way to beat the Chiefs for a 20-15 win dropping K.C. to 0-2. Freeman’s backup Josh Johnson was 6-10 for 113 yards with a touchdown.

The Chiefs QBs didn’t play all that bad. Matt Cassel rebounded from the Atlanta game going 14-19 passes for 125 yards and no interceptions. He had a 6-yard TD pass to Jeremy Horne.

Kansas City’s Thomas Jones rushed for 29 yards on eight carries. Jackie Battle led the Chiefs with 59 yards rushing on 11 attempts. Jamaal Charles, the number two back behind Jones averaged over five yards an attempt.

Chiefs’ Reserve cornerback Maurice Leggett suffered a neck injury and was taken off on a stretcher in the third quarter.
