9 minutes.  That is exactly how long Mother Nature let the Royals and the White Sox play before the skies opened and heavy rain washed out the game at Kauffman Stadium last night.  The two teams will try and make up that game as part of a doubleheader tonight.

The game did start last night as Sean O’ Sullivan would need only 11 pitches to mow down the White Sox in the top of the first.  Gregor Blanco would draw a walk, and with Jason Kendall at the plate, the skies opened.

A heavy thunderstorm moved in and brought drenching rain and also knocked out some lights at the stadium before the game was called at about 8:49 last night.

Game one of the doubleheader will have Philip Humber getting the start for Kansas City against Chicago’s Freddy Garcia.

Game two, which will start about 30 minutes after the end of game one, will see the Royals send Bryan Bullington to the mound.  The White Sox have not announced yet who will start game two.

Game one of the doubleheader will get underway tonight at Kauffman Stadium at 6:10.
