Brian Nieves court hearing pushed back

August 12, 2010 By admin

The court hearing involving State Senate hopeful Brian Nieves has been pushed back to September 2nd in Cole County. Nieves was to be in court Thursday morning, as 24-year-old Shawn Bell files for a protection order against the former State Representative.

Bell alleges that Nieves head-butted him, slapped him, held him against his will, and threatened him with a gun. Bell says he had gone to Nieves’ campaign office to congratulate him on his primary win when the attack occurred. Bell had been working for one of Nieves’ Republican opponents in that race. Nieves calls the case “frivolous.”
