Offensive woes continue for the Royals

August 9, 2010 By Bill Pollock

The Royals have managed just 11 runs in the first six games of their west coast road trip and have drove four of six games following their 3-2 loss at Seattle, where the Royals dropped two games.

Jason Vargas kept the Royals at bay holding them scoreless until the sixth inning when KC managed a run after two outs. Singles by Jason Kendall and Billy Butler put runners on first and third and Kendall scored on an infield single by Mike Aviles. Alex Gordon homered in the ninth, his fourth of the season to make it a 3-2 game.

Kyle Davies pitched six innings and allowed just two runs on five hits with two walks while striking out five. Seattle took the lead in the bottom of the sixth after the Royals had scored. Seattle added an unearned run in the eighth which proved to be the decisive run.
