Missouri Western State University will induct four individuals and one team into its Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame during ceremonies on Saturday, September 25, including the voice of the Griffon since 1975, Bob Orf, who works for Missourinet affiliate KFEQ in St. Joseph.

The 2010 Hall of Fame Class includes the following inductees: a second team Div. II All-American running back in John Fisher (1992-95), a program record holder for the most career and single season blocks in Tonya Foster (1993-95), and three-time All-CSIC defensive lineman in Steve Marlay (1980-84).

Bob Orf has been the “voice of the Griffons” for 35 years. He graduated from Central Missouri State University in with a Bachelor of Science in Speech & Mass Media, and obtained his Masters of Arts degree in Communications.

Orf began his career at 680 KFEQ St. Joseph in 1975 and now holds the title of program director. He began his duties for Western with the football team when he first started off in 1975. Orf began commentating for the men’s basketball team in 1989 and later on, the women’s basketball teams in 1992.

He has hosted the weekly MWSU coach’s radio show for many years as well. Orf has filled in as the Master of Ceremonies for various MWSU athletic events including the Hall of Fame banquet, the MWSU Student-Athlete Honors Banquet, many Gold Coat Club gatherings and a wide variety of individual sport banquets. He has also contributed to the marketing aspect of Western athletics. He has written and produced Missouri Western athletics commercials for radio spots on 680 KFEQ.
