Gordon leads Royals past the A’s

August 4, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Alex Gordon doubled and scored the decisive run in the ninth inning and hit his third home run in five games to help lead the Royals to a 3-2 win over the Oakland A’s on Tuesday night.

Gordon is 10 for his last 37 in 10 games since returning from AAA Omaha. He’s raised his major league batting average from .148 on July 24th up to .270 with his two hits from last night.

Kyle Davies went five innings and despite walking five, he held Oakland to just those two runs. Joakim Soria picked up his 30th save of the season and has converted 22 straight saves.
