Oakland starter Trevor Cahill gave up just three hits and no Royals’ baserunner made it past second base as KC was shutdown 6-0 on Monday night in Oakland. It was Cahill’s first complete game in the majors as he moved his record to 11-4.

Not much to say in terms of offense. There just wasn’t any last night for the Royals. Things continue to look grim for Royals’ starter Brian Bannister. He lost his sixth straight decision to drop to 7-11 and hasn’t won since June 23rd when he outpitched Stephen Strasburg of the Nationals.

On Monday night, Bannister allowed five runs on seven hits, while walking four and striking out four. “Bottom line, it was five runs in five innings. That’s the way it was going and the way its been going for a few weeks now,” said Bannister.

Bannister has given up 32 runs over his last 39 innings for a 7.38 ERA.
