Albert Pujols appears to have broken out of his mini slump. He hit his 25th homer in a five run fifth inning as the Cardinals swept the Pirates with a 9-1 win. Adam Wainwright the big story. He remains unbeaten at Busch Stadium moving to 11-0, after his rough outing last week at New York.

Wainwright leads the majors with that 11-0 home record and an ERA of 1.22 at home. On Sunday, Wainwright went seven innings allowing six hits while walking none and striking out five. Wainwright is now 15-6 on the season.

The Cardinals broke open a 1-1 game with five in the fifth off Pirates’ starter Zach Duke. Pujols’ homer was a two run shot. Brendan Ryan went 3 for 3 and Aaron Miles had two hits and drove in three runs.

St. Louis is still 1/2 game ahead of Cincinnati as they begin a series with Houston on Monday. Jake Westbrook will make his first start since coming over from San Diego in the Ryan Ludwick trade.
