Cards Bats Stay Hot Against Dodgers

July 17, 2010 By Missourinet Sports

The St. Louis Cardinal bats continued to stay as hot as the temperatures last night at Busch as they pound out 14 hits against the Los Angeles Dodgers, on their way to an 8-4 win.  Yadier Molina broke out of a 6-67 hitting slump by driving in four runs.
Molina would drive in his first RBI on an RBI single in the first inning.  He would then drive in a run in the third on a fielder’s choice.  Molina would finish off with a two run home run in the fifth.

While Molina and Winn were the leaders at the plate, the rest of the team would follow.  All starters would have at least one hit, and seven players would cross the plate last night.

The Redbirds would also get offense burst from outfielder Randy Winn.  He would have two hits and would also drive in two runs.

Cardinal starter Jamie Garcia would have a rough outing.  He would last only 3 1/3 innings.  He only gave up two runs, but did surrender eight hits.  This would be the second shortest outing of the season for Garcia.

The Redbirds will go for the series win this afternoon behind 13 game winner Adam Wainwright.  The Dodgers will send Hiroki Kuroda to the mound.

Game time is 3:10.
